Decals

Wall decal idea

A recent AllSportDesigns.com customer used a wall decal to decorate the cover of their team stereo system used for warm ups.  They sent us pictures and we wanted to share them with you, we think it looks great!

Wall Decal Installation and Care

Wall Decal SamplesHere are some tips on successfully installing and caring for your wall decal from AllSportDesigns.com
Warning
Improper installation of your wall decal may result in property damage. Wall decals are not intended for the following applications:
  • Freshly painted walls.
  • Walls finished with flat, egg shell or satin latex paint.
  • Ceilings.
  • Uneven, rough or porous surfaces.
  • Windows cleaned with ammonia based products.
For these situations please consider the alternate mounting described in the application section.
Decal preparation
Unroll your wall decal and lay it on a flat surface for 24 hours before installing.
Surface preparation
Ensure the wall finish is either gloss or semi-gloss latex paint and that the wall has not been painted within the past thirty (30) days.
Wall, metal or glass surface needs to be clean, grease-free and smooth. If cleaning is required use a small amount of dish soap in water then dry the surface completely. Never wipe the surface where you will be applying the decal with any cleaner containing Melaleuca Oil.
The surface temperature should be between 40 F and 80 F when applying your decal.
Application
When applying your decal ensure you have no lotion on your hands.
Walls and windows
Apply the decal straight down with both hands (if the decal is large it is helpful to have an assistant for the installation).
From the middle, moving outward, smooth the decal with your hands pushing the air out as you go. Roll up a hand towel tightly and smooth from the middle, moving outward again. If any bubbles remain, gently pin prick to the side of the trapped air and push outward with your finger.
Vehicle
Ensure surface is wax free and then clean area with rubbing alcohol, allowing to dry completely. Align decal to level, taping on opposite sides to hold the position.
From the top, gently pull the decal away from the liner until about half way down the decal. Cut off the backing paper and smooth the decal from the middle, moving upward and outward, using a credit card for a squeegee. Lift decal from the bottom and release remaining backing paper. Smooth decal from the middle, moving downward and outward. Roll up a hand towel tightly and smooth from the middle, moving outward again. If any bubbles remain, gently pin prick to the side of the trapped air and push outward with your finger.
Alternate mounting
Purchase a smooth panel to apply wall decal to that can be moved to any wall. Available at most home improvement centers, this product is called “bath board” and is usually used to line shower walls. Just cut to size, wipe off any dust, apply your decal and mount to wall. Your wall decal can now be moved to any wall and be kept forever!
Removal
Use a hairdryer to heat the decal. Continually heat as you pull evenly and slowly from top to bottom of the decal. Any remaining adhesive can be easily removed with a product such as Goo Gone.
